Bob Kaseweter
Bob Kaseweter, 39, and his girlfriend, Beverley Wetherald, 35, were employees of the Portland General Electric utility company who had convinced law enforcement authorities to let them conduct a photographic study of the volcano from Kaseweter’s cabin, which was about two miles down the north fork of the Toutle River from Spirit Lake. Besides Harry Truman, they were the only two people inside the red zone when the volcano erupted. The cabin and about 80 cabins and other structures nearby were completely buried when the north flank of the volcano collapsed.
